About us

Academy of Community Health Experts

We deliver high quality healthcare with community based contracts, utilising local and national clinical expertise. ACHE has been developed by GPs  to provide innovative methods of community health provision, up-skilling and training of health professionals. This includes the development of GPwERs (GPs with extended roles).

ACHE offers providers the opportunity to develop new sources of income, work in partnership with the commercial sector, and increase efficiency, all while maintaining the same quality, values and ethos as the NHS.

ACHE provides a significant contribution to the NHS and delivers some clear outcomes including:

  • the development of efficiencies within service provision - the ability to drive income generation to support local NHS services
  • greater commerciality, understanding and expertise
  • the ability to really challenge how services are delivered
  • training and supporting local providers to deliver specialised services

Expertise

ACHE has expertise in providing Community-based health services in several specialties, with both specialties and referrals increasing year-on year. This ideally places the organisation to work with the ever-changing health economy situation in improving care, as well as designing care optimally for patient convenience and NHS efficiency. ACHE has worked with NHS commissioners to provide IT based solutions to decrease numbers of out-patient and community based face-to-face appointments. For example, there are the referral support services (RSS) designed in dermatology, MSK , General Surgery and ENT specialties.

Training & Education

ACHE facilitates training for GPs to develop their skills in their clinical area of interest. A GP with an extended role (GPwER) is a GP who undertakes, in addition to their core general practice, a role beyond the scope of their training and the MRCGP, and which requires further training.

ACHE has supported 5 GPs to specialise in Dermatology through the RCGP Dermatology accreditation program. Consultant led clinics and training are provided by ACHE to enable GPs to grow their clinical expertise.

Our aims

  • To deliver and provide local community clinically led services for patients that are based upon proven methods that are efficient, cost effective and most importantly of high quality care.
  • To deliver services built on our partnerships with wide networks of service providers such as PCN's, NHS Trusts and GP practices.
  • To provide a platform and vehicle for our partners that will provide:
  • A governance structure and partnership that enables providers to deliver services at scale.
  • A conduit and integrator with other providers such as CCG's, NHS trusts and a range of clinicians
  • A platform to help specialists in the community to deliver collaborative work.
